Glenn Nielsen | Director, Madison New Horizons Band
It is a great pleasure working with the New Horizon Band. Their commitment and enthusiasm for making music is inspiring. I truly believe that performing music can add so much meaning and enjoyment to ones’ life.
Glenn Nielsen is the director of the New Horizons Band in Madison, Wisconsin. He also conducts the McFarland Community band and has a private woodwind lesson studio. Glenn graduated from Luther College (BA 1970) and the University of Idaho (MM 1971). He taught 6-12 instrumental music for 32 years in the McFarland schools. Glenn is a past-president of the Wisconsin Music Educators Conference and was chairman of the Wisconsin Middle Level Honors Project involving gifted and talented music students in a Honors Band, Orchestra and Choir. He has been a band clinician and honor band conductor throughout the mid-west. Interests include travel (Prague is his favorite city), gardening, and board games. His wife, Meg, three children and two grandchildren are the joys of his life.
