Do you need preamp for LR Baggs Anthem? ›

The Anthem has all of the essential tools in one complete system. The feather-weight preamp and controls include: volume, mix, phase and a battery check. The mix control blends from the augmented TRU•MIC position to Element pickup only.

Every pickup is made here at our California factory and is pre-tested in a guitar for output and balance.

A pickup, since it's in direct contact with the instrument, will (quite logically) usually have a more "direct" sound than a microphone will - while the mic will impart more "air" to the sound it is producing. So from a purely sonic perspective, the mic will usually have a more "realistic" sound.

You don't. Any decent acoustic-electric or pickup-equipped acoustic can be plugged directly into an amplifier, studio mixer, or live-soundboard and deliver a good tone.

The preamp, with our famous all-discrete studio quality circuitry, is also equipped with a sound hole mounted volume control. Battery life: 170 hrs.

In most cases, guitar pickups are a more convenient option, as they allow you to move around, they provide more volume before feedback, and they isolate your guitar's sound from other instruments.

Dynamic microphones are the classic choice for miking electric guitar cabs. They can handle high sound pressure levels and capture a high amplitude, resulting in an aggressive sound source's "smooth" recording.

Short answer: 'need' is a strong word, but your synth tracks would certainly benefit greatly from a preamp. Simply put, adding a preamp to your synth lines will make them come through a little stronger and have more impact on the mix. Any preamp, whether solid state or tube, is designed to make your signal louder.

It has two major jobs: it amplifies the tiny signal generated by your stylus, and it re-equalises the signal. To play records at all, you're going to need one in your system somewhere. You'll find a phono pre-amplifier built into some hifi amplifiers, but check before you buy. Not all amps have them ready to go.

MOST new turntables have a preamp built-in, SO DON'T STRESS ABOUT THE PREAMP. Preamps are generally required for some vintage turntables and higher-priced, intermediate + high-end turntables.
