Along with the ticketed headline concert by the great trumpeter Terence Blanchard in Shannon Hall (the Wisconsin Union Theater), this year’s Jazz Festival will feature the world premiere performance by the UW Jazz Orchestra of a new suite by Madison-based trumpeter, composer, and arranger Paul Dietrich. Commissioned by the Union Theater, the piece, “Scenes from Lake Mendota,” is an ode to the Union Terrace in three movements: “Bright,” “Twilight,” and “After Dark.”

Here is the complete Festival performance schedule.  Except for the ticketed Blanchard concert, all performances will be on the Union Terrace (or in the Rathskeller if bad weather) and are free admission.
