The New Horizons Jazz Band has been rehearsing Sticks, a Cannonball Adderley composition and one the saxophonist's classic works. It swings, yes, but it's rockin, funky, and souful at the same time. In 1966, the Cannonball Adderley quintet recorded a live album, Mercy, Mercy, Mercy" which included Sticks.  The band was:  Adderley on alto sax, his brother Nat on cornet, Joe Zawunil, piano, Vic Gatsky playing bass, and Roy McCurdy on drums. Here's the rockin, swinging version of Sticks captured in that live performance. Sticks
